The Influence of Program Evaluation and Reporting on the Effectiveness of Village Work Programs: A Case Study of Cibunar Village
Abstract
AbstractProgram evaluation and reporting are crucial components of good governance in village development, as they ensure transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. However, in practice, many evaluations remain procedural and fail to contribute to the effectiveness of village work programs. This study examines the influence of evaluation and reporting on the effectiveness of village work programs in Cibunar Village, Garut Regency, Indonesia. A qualitative case study approach was employed, using in-depth interviews with village officials, community representatives, and local stakeholders, as well as document analysis of program reports. Findings reveal that evaluation and reporting play a dual role: they serve as control mechanisms to ensure compliance with government regulations and as learning tools for program improvement. When conducted systematically, they significantly enhance the effectiveness of planning, implementation, and accountability of village programs. However, challenges remain in terms of human resource capacity, data management, and limited use of digital tools. This study contributes both theoretically and practically by highlighting the importance of participatory evaluation and transparent reporting in strengthening the effectiveness of village governance.
