FORMULASI DAN UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI SEDIAAN KRIM EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN PALA (Myristica fragrans Houtt) TERHADAP BAKTERI Staphylococcus aureus
Abstract
Krim memiliki nilai estetika dan kenyamanan yang cukup tinggi. Krim yang mengadung bahan alam kini lebih diminati karena adanya tren back to nature, salah satu tumbuhan yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai alternatif antibakteri adalah daun pala (Myristica fragrans Houtt). Daun pala mengandung tanin, saponin, alkaloid, steroid/terpenoid, dan flavonoid. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri dari krim ekstrak etanol daun pala terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Jenis penelitian adalah pengujian formulasi yang dibedakan pada bahan baku basis krimnya. Kontrol positif adalah krim sagestam dan kontrol negatif yaitu basis krim. Uji antibakteri dilakukan dengan metode difusi agar dengan cara sumuran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa krim memenuhi persyaratan homogenitas, organoleptis, pH (4,5–6,5), daya sebar (5–7 cm), viskositas (2.000 - 50.000 cp), uji iritasi dan uji aktivitas antibakteri krim ekstrak etanol daun pala dengan konsentrasi 10% memiliki rata-rata diameter zona hambat formula 1 yaitu 15 mm, formula 2 yaitu 13,3 mm dan formula 3 yaitu 14,7 mm.
