Abstrak

Tanaman secang (Caesalpinia sappan L.) memiliki kandungan senyawa aktif flavonoid yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai antioksidan primer maupun antioksidan sekunder. Kayu secang diketahui memiliki aktivitas antioksidan sangat kuat dengan nilai lC50 sebesar 34,2888 ppm. Ekstrak etanol kayu secang dalam penelitian ini diformulasikan sebagai face mist. Sediaan face mist merupakan sediaan pelembab kulit yang praktis diaplikasikan, cepat meresap dan mudah dibawa. Gliserin pada formulasi face mist digunakan sebagai bahan tambahan yang dapat meningkatkan dan mempertahankan kandungan air pada kulit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui formulasi sediaan face mist ekstrak etanol kayu secang (Caesalpinia sappan L.) dengan variasi konsentrasi gliserin sebagai humektan. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan adalah penelitian eksperimental. Ekstrak etanol kayu secang diperoleh dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 70%. Nilai rendemen yang diperoleh sebesar 8,3%. Hasil skrining fitokimia ekstrak etanol kayu secang mengandung flavonoid, alkaloid, terpenoid, tannin, saponin dan fanolik. Penelitian ini menggunakan variasi konsentrasi gliserin sebesar 10%, 15%, 20% dan ekstrak etanol kayu secang 2%. Pengujian evaluasi fisik sediaan dilakukan selama 30 hari yaitu hari ke-0, hari ke-15, dan hari ke-30, yang meliputi uji organoleptis, pH, homogenitas, waktu mengering, kelembapan kulit, iritasi, daya semprot, dan stabilitas. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu F3 (20%) merupakan sediaan yang paling baik karena memenuhi semua kriteria evaluasi, serta memiliki nilai kelembapan yang lebih unggul dibandingkan F1 (10%) dan F2 (15%), hal ini menunjukan bahwa semakin tinggi nilai konsentrasi gliserin maka semakin tinggi pula nilai kelembapan nya, karena gliserin dapat meningkatkan dan mempertahankan kandungan air pada kulit.
