Abstrak

Secara empirik, tanaman asam jawa (Tamarindus indica L.) telah digunakan sebagai obat oleh masyarakat untuk berbagai macam pengobatan, seperti nyeri haid, sakit perut, dan rematik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji adanya pengaruh efek analgetik pemberian ekstrak etanol daun asam jawa dengan metode induksi asam asetat 1% dan mengetahui dosis terbaiknya untuk meredakan nyeri. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan cara maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 70%. Subjek penelitian berupa mencit putih jantan galur Swiss Webster berjumlah 25 ekor yang dibagi ke dalam 5 kelompok yaitu kelompok kontrol negatif menggunakan Na-CMC 1%, kelompok kontrol positif menggunakan paracetamol 500mg, dan kelompok uji ekstrak daun asam jawa dengan dosis 100 mg/kgBB, dosis 200 mg/kgBB, dosis 300 mg/kgBB. Perlakuan awal diberi secara peroral, 30 menit kemudian diberi asam asetat 1% secara intraperitonial. Data diperoleh berupa jumlah kumulatif geliat mencit. Kemudian dianalisis dengan ANOVA dan dilanjutkan dengan uji DUNCAN. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak daun asam jawa mempunyai daya analgetik terhadap mencit putih jantan galur Swiss Webster. Dosis terbaik adalah 200mg/KgBB yang memberikan efek analgetik yang tidak berbeda nyata dengan perlakuan parasetamol pada taraf signifikansi 0,05.
