AN ANALYSIS OF EXPRESSIVE SPEECH ACT OF THE MAIN CHARACTER IN THE MOVIE “INSIDE OUT 2”

Abstrak

This study aims to determine the speech acts spoken by the character Riley in the "Inside Out 2" movie. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The explanation of the data is explained with a text. Speech act is a study to find out someone's speech. Someone's meaning often contains meaning behind their speech. Therefore, the researcher examined the speech acts in the character Riley in the film "Inside Out 2". The story begins when Riley experienced several things when she entered adolescence, so she learned to be better. When children at this age usually have difficulty controlling their emotions in speech acts. In this study, the researcher found that the expressive speech acts spoken by Riley were around 11 expressions. In the apologizing expression, three utterances were found. For the expression of gratitude, there were two expressions. Then one expression of anger was found that Riley said. As for blaming, Riley expressed two expressions of blaming. There is one expression for fear. And one expression also for happiness. Then the last one in sadness Riley expressed once.Keywords: Expressive, Movie, Speech Act
